Seattle Seahawks' Jaxon Smith-Njigba becomes highest paid wide receiver in NFL history with $168.6 million contract extension

The Seattle Seahawks have signed Jaxon Smith-Njigba to a four-year, $168.6 million contract extension to make him the highest-paid wide receiver in NFL history.

The 2025 Offensive Player of the Year is guaranteed $120 million after helping the Seahawks to a Super Bowl and making his second consecutive Pro Bowl.

Last season, he led the NFL with 1,793 receiving yards, averaging a career-high 15.1 yards per catch on 119 grabs with 10 touchdowns.

With a per-year average of $42.15 million, the 24-year-old sits comfortably ahead of the next highest paid wide receiver in history, Cincinnati Bengals' Ja'Marr Chase, with a yearly average of $40.25 million.

But they both stand clear of Justin Jefferson, $35 million per-year average, and CeeDee Lamb, $34 million per-year average.

Smith-Njigba's record extension has redefined the top of the receiver market, which could impact division rivals Los Angeles as their star wideout Puka Nacua enters the final season of his contract.

Seattle could now also look to extend 2023 first-round pick and standout cornerback Devon Witherspoon.
